Use cases
Time tracking and project margins for agencies
For an agency, Hourcove connects the timer to the margin: people track time, managers approve each week, invoices are built from approved, unbilled hours, and each project shows revenue against cost, budget burn and each person's utilisation. Plans are one price for the workspace: Studio is $49 a month for 5 people, Agency $99 for 15.
What it covers
- Billable rates per person, task or project, and cost rates per person, with history.
- Budgets in hours or money, monthly or per task or person, and fixed-fee projects.
- Invoices with your own numbering, a PDF and an online link, and two tax rates.
- Reports by client, project, person, task and month, each exporting to CSV.

Where Hourcove fits
Hourcove tracks time, locks approved weeks, builds invoices from approved time and expenses, and shows each project's margin, budget burn and each person's utilisation. Plans are one monthly price for the workspace, from $15, with a 14-day free trial. Its move from Harvest is in early access: built, and not yet run against a real Harvest account.
Questions
How are margins worked out?
Revenue is either each billable hour at its recorded rate plus billable expenses, or what you actually invoiced; you choose. Cost is each hour at the person's cost rate plus every expense.
Questions buyers ask
How can an agency see which projects make money?
Track time against projects with each person's cost rate, then compare revenue with cost. Hourcove does this for every project: revenue at billable rates or from what you invoiced, cost at cost rates plus expenses, with budget burn and each person's utilisation beside it. Plans are one price for the workspace, from $15 a month.
